چکیده
We propose a new algorithm for real-time detection and tracking of elliptic patterns suitable real-world robotics applications. The method fits ellipses to each contour in the image frame rejects that do not yield good fit. resulting is lightweight enough be used on robots' resource-limited onboard computers, can deal with lighting variations detect pattern even when view partial. tested an example application autonomous UAV landing fast-moving vehicle show its performance indoors, outdoors, simulation task. comparison other well-known ellipse methods shows our proposed outperforms F1 score 0.981 dataset over 1500 frames. videos experiments, source codes, collected are provided paper at https://theairlab.org/landing-on-vehicle .

Bilateral Symmetry Detection for Real-time Robotics Applications
Bilateral symmetry is a salient visual feature of many man-made objects. In this paper, we present research that use bilateral symmetry to identify, segment and track objects in real time using vision. Apart from the assumption of symmetry, the algorithms presented do not require any object models, such as colour, shape or three dimensional primitives. In order to remedy the high computational ...
متن کاملReal-Time Issues in Advanced Robotics Applications
The aim of this paper is to discuss some important realtime issues involved in the design of complex robotic applications. In particular, the problem of evaluating why and when a robotics application needs real–time computing is discussed first. The second issue concerns the definition of time constraints for each task of the robot. We will show how time constraints, such as periods and deadlin...
متن کاملSimulation of a Neutron Detector for Real Time Imaging Applications
Monte Carlo Method is used to simulate a double layer gadolinium-amorphous silicon thermal neutron detector. The detector fabricated in pixel array configuration has various applications including neutron imaging. According to the simulation results, a detector consisting of a gadolinium (Gd) film with thickness of 2-4 ~m, sandwiched properly with two layers of sufficiently thick (-30 ?µm) hydr...
متن کاملHARTIK: A real-time kernel for robotics applications
This paper presents a hard real-time kernel, called HARTIK, specifically designed to handle robotics applications with predictable response time. The main relevant features of this kernel include: direct specification of time constraints, such as periods and deadlines; preemptive scheduling; coexistence of hard, soft, and non real-time tasks: separation between time constraints and importance; ...
متن کاملTrajectory Optimization and Real-time Simulation for Robotics Applications
Abstract. This paper illustrates the use of the general-purpose multibody free software MBDyn for trajectory optimization in space robotics. Trajectory optimization requires the capability to explore the space of the feasible solutions which implies simultaneously satisfying the dynamics equations of the system and equality and inequality constraints. A well-known and widely adopted technique i...
